DUBLIN, Ireland: Local media has reported that a U.S. investment group may invest billions of euros for the construction of an Intel computer semiconductor chip factory in Ireland.

The group has been identified as U.S.-based Apollo Global Management, KKR & Co and Stonepeak.

The parties continue to put together plans for the chip factory, including its size and the scope of its manufacturing.

This week, Intel said it expects second-quarter revenues and profits to fall below initial estimates.

The company has been working to regain its earlier lead in the computer chip market. Intel's 17 billion euro Kildare chip factory is the company's first high-volume manufacturing plant using extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology.
