BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

SCI-TECH AWARD SYSTEM

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has signed a State Council decree to publish the revised regulation on the national science and technology award system.

As an important and long-standing system, the national science and technology award system is a significant policy to encourage independent innovation, inspire the vitality of talent and foster a favorable environment for innovation.

The revised regulation clarifies that the science and technology awards should serve the country's major strategies as well as the mid- and long-term development plan for science and technology.

BLOCKCHAIN

Researchers have proposed a conceptual traceability framework based on blockchain to enhance the credibility of food trade between China and the European Union (EU).

The global food trade has become an increasingly crucial element for feeding the world's population. However, systems featuring credible traceability are still absent in many countries and regions, said a report by the Science and Technology Daily.

A research team from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in cooperation with Spanish and Australian researchers, analyzed the features of logistical flow, data flow and blockchain flow.

TROPICAL WILD LIFE

Researchers have demonstrated that some present-day low latitude tropical wildlife species lived on the high-altitude northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau 5,200 years ago.

Wild bovids used to be important prey on the plateau, where hunting was a major subsistence strategy until the late Neolithic period.

Researchers from China and the United Kingdom applied ancient DNA analysis to fragmented bovid and rhinoceros specimens dating back 5,200 years, which were obtained from a Neolithic site located in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
