With theme, "Kilos, Lakad, Wakasan ang Karahasan sa Kababaihan", the Solidarity Walk was participated by various government agencies,non-government organizations and some entertainment celebrities.

Philippine Commission on Women Chairperson Rhodora M. Bucoy encouraged every individual to be an advocate of the anti-violence against women and children campaign and to continue be a watchdog within their community and workplace so that violence will be avoided and stopped.

The Solidarity Walk aims to raise public awareness on the Anti-violence against Women and Children advocacy, promote the Department's work in providing for the safety and protection of victim-survivors, and showcase the solidarity of the country's defense forces in fighting all forms of VAWC.

Defense Undersecretary Cardozo M. Luna said in his speech during the event also said "As we walk shoulder to shoulder, we are united by one battle cry: to stop violence against women and also their children."

"Today, at the end of the 18-day campaign against violence against women and children, we are fighting a battle for the countless, voiceless, defenseless women and children, who by circumstance, are subjected to violence, to abuse, for economic gain, treated like property, sold in human trafficking, prostituted, gang raped, and worst, killed," Luna added.

Luna encouraged everyone to be an advocate of the anti-VAWC campaign.

"Every one of us who walked today has a mission: to advocate respect, love, and peace. It is up to each and one of us today to help each other to stop all forms of violence in every form and in all levels. How should we do it? Be an advocate," he said.

A total of 41 agencies, both national government agencies and local government units participated in the Solidarity Walk to show support in promoting anti-VAWC. (DND/PIA-NCR)
