Washington D.C. [USA], Mar 18 (ANI): All the Aretha Franklin fans have a reason to rejoice as they will soon be able to witness the magic of the late American singer-songwriter.

The Aretha Franklin concert film titled 'Amazing Grace' will open the 2019 Roger Ebert film festival in Champaign-Urbana, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

The University of Illinois stated that the 1972 film helmed by Sydney Pollack has been stored in a vault for decades and is now being restored and released. The film will kick-start this year's Ebertfest, followed by a live community choir performance.

Ebertfest co-founder Chaz Ebert said that instead of opening with the traditional musical, this year the festival will begin with "a glorious, gospel-infused high note."The annual festival honours Ebert, the late Chicago Sun-Times film critic. It will run from April 10 to April 13 at Champaign's Virginia Theatre. More films and a screening schedule are soon to be released.

Franklin passed away due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 76 in August, last year.

The singer known for hit songs like 'Respect', 'Natural Women', and 'I say a little prayer', was given tributes by a string of artists including Ariana Grande, Madonna, Elton John, Dwayne Johnson, Beyonce, Jay-Z, among many others last year at various musical performances and events. (ANI)
