DUBLIN, Ireland - The U.S. cloud software maker, Salesforce has unveiled plans to expand its Irish footprint and has said that it will be adding 1,500 jobs at its offices in the country.

As part of its expansion plans, Salesforce said that it is planning to begin recruitment for 1,500 jobs, which will be filled in over the next five years.

The San Francisco-based company currently employs 1,500 people in Dublin and has said that it will create 1,500 jobs jobs in engineering, customer support, sales and business services in Ireland.

The company revealed that it is planning to make its Dublin office - the North Wall Quay-based Salesforce Tower Dublin, as its European hub.

Salesforce said that it is planning to serve employees across sales, customer service, technical and business operations from its new 430,000 feet campus in Dublin.

Revealing the company's Irish expansion plans, Miguel Milano, Saleforce’s international president said, "Europe is Salesforce’s fastest growing region, and Ireland has been a significant part of our success. We are excited to be announcing our continued commitment with this investment in Dublin."

Commenting on the company's announcement, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said in a statement, "Today we are announcing the location of Salesforce Tower Dublin and the creation of 1,500 new jobs over the next five years. This is one of the largest jobs announcements in Ireland in recent years. Salesforce is an important part of our technology sector, helping Ireland become the tech capital of Europe and one of the most globalised and open economies in the world."

Varadkar added, "Ireland is open to investment, to capital, to trade, to talent and to creativity. I particularly welcome Salesforce’s €1 million grant to Educate Together, and the hospitality space being set aside for local community groups. Well done to the entire team in Dublin on your success."

The company generates a large part of its revenues in the U.S. and has been actively expanding its operations and hiring spree in other markets, to prolong its strong growth.

In April 2018, the company said that it was planning to invest $2.2 billion in its French business over the next five years.

A few months later, in June last year, Salesforce pledged to spend $2.5 billion to spur sales over the next five years, in its largest European market - the U.K.
