Mazda Motor recalls thousands of vehicles globally

TOKYO, Japan - Thousands of vehicles by the Japanese automaker Mazda are set to be recalled following issues related to the diesel engine in the vehicles produced by the company. 

According to reports, the Japanese carmaker has said that it is planning to recall around 640,000 vehicles globally after it detected issues related to the valve springs used in its diesel engines. 

While Mazda does not supply diesel models in the U.S., in its other overseas markets, the automaker is planning to recall 410,000 units of its diesel cars.

Meanwhile, the automaker is also set to recall around 230,000 vehicles at home to fix the issue.

The recall comes at a time when other Japanese automakers too are facing issues related to the quality of vehicles, with Mazda's domestic rival Subaru Corp too issuing a recall of 400,000 vehicles globally to fix a design flaw. 

Quality issues faced by Japanese automakers range from faulty components to testing misconduct that are leading to increasing costs and quality issues.
