KILDARE, Ireland - After first launching business operations in the early 1990's, when one of Ireland's best known designers, Orla Kiely began designing hats and handbags, the designer's creations have gone large scale.

However, the Dublin designer has now decided to close her retail and online businesses.

The designer's single store in Kildare Village and two in London are now set to close down.

A statement from the company, Kiely Rowan Plc, said, "Kiely Rowan plc, the retail and wholesale fashion business of Orla Kiely, has ceased trading as of Monday 17 September 2018."

It said, "We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for embracing our brand and designs throughout the years and for your ongoing support."

The company's statement also added that Orla Kiely's Home and Design licensing business will not be impacted.

It noted that the company's selection of accessories and homewares will continue to be sold through its distribution partners.

The designer, who is renowned for her iconic prints, has a long list of prominent clients which include one of Britain's high ranking royals, Kate Middleton and even Hollywood stars like Kirsten Dunst and Kiera Knightley.
