Private jet from Texas crashes in Honduras, splits in half

TEXAS, U.S. - All crew members and passengers that were onboard a private jet survived after the jet crashed off the end of the runway and broke in half.

According to the Honduran Civil Aviation Agency and FlightAware, the private jet originated in the Texas capital of Austin on Tuesday morning and crashed off the end of the runway of the Honduran capital's international airport and broke in half.

Officials confirmed that the crew and passengers were rescued and were reportedly out of danger.

Further, videos and images posted online showed residents of the area where the crash occurred, pulling people out of the damaged fuselage of the white Gulfstream jet, while others sprayed it with hand-held fire extinguishers.

Officials said that firefighters soon arrived at the scene and doused the wreckage with foam. 

According to Federal Aviation Administration records, the plane was registered to TVPX Aircraft Solutions Inc. in North Salt Lake, Utah. 

Later, in an update on Twitter, Honduras' emergency management agency said that first responders rescued passengers and crew. 

However, the agency did not provide the number of those aboard, but confirmed that all were alive.

There were some discrepancies in some of the claims, while Honduran firefighters said there were nine people injured, the military police spokesman Mario Rivera said there were six aboard the jet. 

Later, President Juan Orlando Hernandez confirmed in a tweet that all those that suffered injuries were in a stable condition.

In a statement, the aviation agency said that the crash took place at 11:15 a.m. and that everyone aboard was taken for medical attention.

The agency said that airport operations were temporarily shut down while authorities checked to ensure conditions were safe.
