Vote on 20/59 study delayed by council
The Birmingham City Council on Tuesday delayed a vote on an ordinance that would approve a study to move Interstate 20/59.
The project, which has sparked controversy among Birmingham residents, was the subject of a recent lawsuit, as those opposed to the project say the current bridges limit development, depress property values and create an artificial barrier between the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, northern neighborhoods and the rest of the city center.
