Automotive Minute: 38 vehicles earn IIHS top safety rating
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has published its latest list of the vehicles they say are the safest. Thirty-eight 2017 models have earned the designation of IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK in the current round of testing, down from 79 models tested last year.
Why the drastic drop in high-performing vehicles' IIHS has stiffened regulations this go-round. Potential buyers should expect future product debuts to include additional safety enhancements to help achieve the highest IIHS rating.
