Luis Suarez will extend his Barcelona contract within the next few days, according to club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Bartomeu also reiterated his belief that Lionel Messi will remain at the Camp Nou, but it is Suarez's new deal that the club have been working on for the last few months.
Bartomeu expects the Uruguay international to commit to terms which will tie him to Barca until at least 2022.
"We're about to close Suarez's renewal," he said in an interview with Radio Vision in Uruguay. "There are just a few final details [to sort]. But Luis will continue at Barcelona.
"He's well loved by everyone and he loves the club. In the coming days, weeks, we will announce it. Maybe it will be a great Christmas present. Not for Luis, who knows he will continue here, but for football fans.
