PanARMENIAN.Net - But what enslaved us to our palms the most over the past 12 months Well, after Apple released details about the downloads from its App Store, we now have the answer, Digital Spy said.

When it came to our iPhones, it turns out Face Swap Live was the most popular paid app - meaning that the notion of seeing all your mates with your facial features didn't get old, after all, Digital Spy said.

And despite recently announcing it would ditch users running older iOS software or iPhone models, messaging giant WhatsApp was the most downloaded free app of the year. Meanwhile, Apple Music's big rival Spotify rounded out 2016 as the top grossing iPhone app.

It's not all about what's going on in your pocket, though. In fact, the apps being downloaded onto iPads differ greatly from its pint-sized equivalent, Digital Spy said.

While everyone is seemingly using their slate to get a better look at YouTube - the most popular free app - gaming managed to break into the top spot of the paid and top grossing sector.

Continuing its domination of rush-hour commutes and Facebook notification tabs, Candy Crush Saga was announced as the top grossing app of the year, while Minecraft was crowned as the top paid download, Digital Spy said.
