Hotel rewards programs benefit chains more than consumers

Hotel chains benefit from rewards programs more than its customers, according to recent studies and hospitality experts.

According to Deloitte, about 18 percent of frequent travelers become loyal to a given hotel brand primarily because of its rewards program. Hotel chains procure an average of 50 percent more revenue from those customers, according to a study from the Center for Hospitality Research at Cornell University.
