Sydney leads the way in radio advertising growth

SYDNEY, Australia - Radio ad revenue in metropolitan Australia spiked up by 5.5% in November 2016 to $72.411 million, according to the metropolitan commercial radio advertising revenue, sourced by Deloitte and released Thursdayday by industry body, Commercial Radio Australia.

The Sydney market showed strong growth up 11.11% to $23.006 million, Melbourne was up 4.63% to $21.591 million, Brisbane rose 5.4% to $11.322 million, Perth was up .32% to $10.101 million and Adelaide was down .89%to $6.391 million.   

The five months of the 2016/17 financial year shows the total market up .23% to a total of $336.480 million. YTD for the individual markets shows Melbourne up 1.43% to $104.266 million, Sydney up 1.17% to $104.123 million and Brisbane up .77% to $52.653 million.  Adelaide was down 5.80% to $29.712 million and Perth slightly down 1.02% $45.726 million.

“Radio continues to perform in an increasingly competitive media landscape. The industry is innovating and offers advertisers an effective, multiplatform delivery,” Commercial Radio Australia, CEO Joan Warner said Thursday.

The Deloitte figures report actual revenue received by metropolitan commercial radio stations and include all metropolitan agency and direct revenue.
