With eye on tourism, B'desh to introduce water vessels with India

Dhaka [Bangladesh], Dec. 7 (ANI): Ashoke Madhab Roy, the secretary of Shipping Ministry, said on Wednesday that Bangladesh will soon introduce water vessels with India for tourists of both countries.

Roy said this while briefing reporters before a secretary-level meeting between Bangladesh and India at the Shipping Ministry in Dhaka, reports the Daily Star.

"We will discuss further regarding the matter during the meeting," he said.

Both sides will also be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which permits New Delhi to use Chittagong and Mongla seaports to ferry goods.

Roy, before the meeting, said that they have already given permission to India to use Chittagong and Mongla seaports, but have not decided on the fee yet.

Apart from this, drafts of two agreements over -- using Chittagong and Mongla sea ports by India and building a multipurpose terminal at Payra sea port -- will be discussed and finalised in the meeting. (ANI)
