Bayer AG plans to sell some cotton and canola seed businesses to calm fears antitrust regulators might have over its planned $66 billion buyout of Monsanto Co.
"In North America the combined market share in cotton is indeed quite high," Liam Condon, head of Germany-based Bayer's Crop Science division told German publication Taz, according to Reuters. "We anticipate that parts of this business may have to be divested."
