Undisguised Skoda Rapid Facelift has been spied ahead of launch on 3rd November. The Honda City / Maruti Ciaz rival has adopted significantly revised front fascia.

The car features a new bonnet with an accentuated centre ridge in addition to an angular grille, redesigned headlamps and a reprofiled front bumper. The front fenders will feature minor modification to accommodate the fascia's design change.

The profile and rear of the car seem untouched. The interior too is most likely to soldier on without any significant change. The facelift exercise would put the India-spec sedan closer to its European counterpart in terms of aesthetics.

The Rapid which shares a majority of its components with the Vento will continue to be powered by the 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The former produces 105 PS/153 Nm and is available with a 5-speed MT and 6-speed MT. The latter is capable of 110 PS/250 Nm and can be specified with a 5-MT or a 7-DSG.

Since most of the enhancements are superficial, we don't expect the updated model to have any noticeable price hike. In the last 6 months, the sedan managed average monthly sales of 650 units. The Skoda Rapid facelift is expected to bring a sales boost in the coming months.
