PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is currently negotiating with several budget airlines for starting regular flights from Shirak airport in Gyumri, chief of the General Department of Civil Aviation Sergey Avetisyan said on Thursday, October 27.

"Before entering the market, the air companies should assess how much demand their services garner," Avetisyan said.

As reported earlier, Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda Airlines will start operating regular flight to and from Gyumri.

"The company will fly Boeing-737 and Boeing-800 aircraft which have some 180 seats each," the chief of aviation department said.

"Budget airlines usually employ "starting from hellip; to" pricing policy, and low costs must become the airport's chief competitive advantage."

Also, he said, the facility in Gyumri must become a hub for discount air companies.
