Google Fiber just hit pause button on promised service in 8 cities

Google Fiber is 'pausing' plans to roll out its high-speed Internet service to eight metropolitan areas, including San Jose.

Craig Barratt, who heads the Alphabet-backed company, is stepping aside as CEO, he said Tuesday in a blog post. The company also announced a round of employee layoffs.
