St. Louis Fed president pushes one rate hike for now

Only one Federal Reserve interest rate hike is needed now, and low rates will be the norm for the next two to three years, St. Louis Fed President Jim Bullard said Monday.

A single 25-basis-point increase is needed, he said in a speech in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Bullard this year is a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee, which sets federal funds rate. A month ago, Bullard voted against an increase in the rate.
