With Time Warner acquisition, ATT hopes to speed up the 5G timeline
Without standards in place, industry leaders have talked about a timeline for 5G wireless deployment that would reach the public by about 2020.
But ATT (NYSE: T) hopes the company's $85 billion deal for Time Warner Inc. could speed up the process, CEO Randall Stephenson said Monday.
'To the extent that we can get the standards bodies moving and get the vendor community moving, we would have a desire to move faster with 5G, certainly not slower,' Stephenson said on conference call with investors.
