The next-genMaruti Swift and Dzire will be manufactured at the company's upcoming manufacturing plant inBecharaji, Gujarat. The new plant will be wholly owned by Japanese parent company Suzuki which has invested INR 2,500 on the project.

With Suzuki Swift already spied on test in Europe, the India-spec Swift DZire has now been spied for the first time near the company's plant in Manesar, Haryana.

The new generation Swift DZire will be lighter and equipped with more features.

Based on the same platform, Swift and Dzire together generate over 30,000 units of sales for Maruti Suzuki India. This in spite of the fact that many new cars have been launched in the segment. The much needed new generation variants will give Maruti Suzuki an even platform to compete with new age rivals.

The new Swift DZire is based on Suzuki's new global compact car platform which benefits from a strengthened floor pan. Apart from getting a complete design makeover, the new Swift and DZire will also get a thorough update on the inside. Spy shots reveal new dashboard, sportier seats, hi-res MID, dual pod instrument console with aluminium insert on the rim, more legroom, and much more. These new cars are expected to play a key role in keeping Maruti's growth rate at around 10% at least till 2020.

Engine options on offer will be in the form of existing 1.2 liter petrol and 1.3 liter diesel. In addition to that, we can also expect 1.0 liter BoosterJet to be on offer.

Earlier reports suggest that Maruti has asked its vendors to make new investments and expand capacity to keep pace with the growth rate. The small car specialist is confident of meeting its target of selling 2 million units a year by 2020. Meeting the target would require increasing the production capacity significantly. The Gujarat plant is expected to receive another INR 2,500 crore investment in 2018-19 so that it can enter the second phase of operations.

The Suzuki Gujarat plant which is set to be commissioned in early 2017 will start its operations with the Baleno. The new facility is expected to cater to both domestic and export markets.
