1% of Bulgarians suffer from severe psychotic disorders and nearly 20% have had some form of less serious psychotic disorders which, in most cases, resulted in aggression or anxiety, announced the National Centre for Public Health and Analyses.

Every single Bulgarian can say that they have felt some sort of mild anxiety and depression which cannot disrupt the functioning of the organism but can reduce people's ability to work.

Regretfully, GPs who have been trained to recognise psychotic disorders number merely 400 in Bulgaria.

One of the main problems of psychiatric help in Bulgaria is the insufficient amount of funds allocated for this purpose. A mere 2% of the total health budget is spent on psychiatric health, explained the Director of the Centre Hristo Hinkov.
