Rajendra "Raj" Rao, a leader at 3M Co.'s internet-of-things business, has been tapped by Ford Motor Co. as chief executive for the automaker's Smart Mobility unit.
The Wall Street Journal reports on the hiring, which is the latest move by Ford (NYSE: F) to bring in outsiders to keep pace with the likes of Telsa Motors, Google Inc. and Uber Technologies, who are all working on innovations in the auto sector from various angles.
