UB researchers to conduct $11.4M public study on Tonawanda Coke impact

A new $11.4 million public health study is ready to begin to analyze the impact of emissions from the Tonawanda Coke Corp. plant on the health of workers and area residents.

University at Buffalo researchers will conduct the Tonawanda Health Study, funded by the company as part of a federal order. The company's appeal on Clean Air Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act violations was rejected earlier this year by a federal appeals court.
