Exclusive: Google Fiber scales back gigabit network footprint in San Antonio (map)
Google Fiber Texas LLC is drastically reducing the number of fiber huts it plans to build in San Antonio as part of the gigabit speed network it plans in 2017, the company confirmed to the San Antonio Business Journal.
The subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) initially pitched San Antonio city leaders a master plan with 40 fiber huts scattered around neighborhoods but has scaled that number back, and plans only 17 fiber huts.
