Food manufacturers have scrapped a lawsuit against the state of Vermont, which earlier this year had imposed stricter labeling rules on genetically modified organisms as ingredients.
Vermont Business Magazine reports on the move by the Grocery Manufacturers Association, which represents companies like Golden Valley-based General Mills Inc. (NYSE: GIS), Kellogg Co. (NYSE: K) and others. In the settlement with Vermont's attorney general, the plaintiffs will pay about $17,500 in legal costs.
