Businesses react as Madeline approaches state

Several businesses reacted when it became clear that Hurricane Madeline posed a threat to the Big Island as it approached Hawaii.

Hawaiian Airlines and Island Air offered to waive certain fees for guests changing their travel plans to Hawaii County.

Bank of Hawaii (NYSE: BOH), First Hawaiian Bank (Nasdaq: FHB) and Central Pacific Bank closed all of their Big Island locations on Wednesday.

First Insurance Company of Hawaii deployed additional catastrophe adjusters from the Mainland to the Big Island....
