United Airlines paid new president millions in signing bonus

It's good to be the power behind the throne. Just ask Scott Kirby, who is now rolling in dough since he jumped on Monday from his role as president of American Airlines to take on the newly created position of president at archrival United Airlines.

According to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Kirby will make $875,000 a year in base salary at United Airlines. To get his services, United also anted up $5 million in stock as a signing bonus, SEC filings indicate.
