Low inventory acting as a 'drag' on Chicago housing market
A low inventory of homes for sale is acting as a "drag on the market" in Illinois and Chicago.
That's according to the Illinois Realtors organization, which said Wednesday that across the state last month, there was a 14.4 percent decline in home inventory for sale from a year earlier.
Fewer homes for sale mean fewer sales: In July, there were only 16,108 homes sold in the state, down nearly 7 percent from a year earlier.
